What are hammertoes and turf toes?
A hammertoe is a deformity of a joint (the interphalangeal joint) within the second, third, or fourth toe. The toe becomes permanently bent. When you wear shoes which don’t fit properly, or high heels, you may suffer from hammer toes. Once the toes are bent and squeezed for extended amounts of time the muscles shorten and cause this bent state to stay permanently. Hammer toe is also known as “turf toe” and often occurs together with bunions and arthritis.
Ideal Feet orthotics help align the joints and bones of the feet and can ultimately eliminate this common deformity and help keep pressure off the metatarsals and toes.
Turf Toe, also known as a Metatarsal Joint Sprain, is usually an athletic injury named for the “turf” on many athletic fields. The connective tissue and joint between the toes (the big toe in this case) is injured from hyper extended which causes extreme pain. Turf toe can also occur when the nail is pushed into the cuticle, which causes pain and swelling. Turf toe can become a chronic problem if untreated or if the feet are not given proper healing time.
Ideal Feet arch supports are made to produce the Ideal Feet Effect, which supports all 26 bones and 33 joints of each foot find its proper, ideal alignment. When the feet are properly aligned, they function the way they were designed so that the body can heal itself from the ground up without painful surgeries and injections.
